Season: autumn
Also known as Hilbre Point, Red Rocks beach at Hoylake shares access with West Kirby beach to the Red Rocks Marsh Local Nature Reserve and its wide variety of wildlife. With views across to Hilbre Island in the Dee Estuary and a major championship golf course nearby, there’s a varied visitor profile here. The Red Rocks Site of Special Scientific Interest includes a significant Natterjack Toad population and this is a great beach for rockpooling. Be careful as the tide is rising. It comes in very quickly over the expansive flat beach. Red Rocks hosts regular beach cleans, bathing water is up to scratch and dogs are allowed on the beach. With good facilities nearby, everyone is welcome.
