Season: autumn
The length and size of Southport beach is illustrated by the fact that the famous race horse, Red Rum, trained here. It’s a ranging, flat and sandy beach with a feature pier and all of the amusements that you’d expect to find next to a resort beach. There’s a promenade for strolling and excellent facilities. The tide range is large at Southport, hence the expanse of sand at low tide. Lifeguard cover is extensive, the water quality is good and the beach is cleaned regularly throughout the summer.
What the beach means to Terry.
