Season: autumn
Half Moon Bay, just north of the harbour, is the more popular of Heysham’s two beaches. This is large and sandy at low tide, with plenty of room for dogs to exercise all year round. The town is interesting to visit, particularly the old church and its graveyard. Ferries ply their trade from here to the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. There’s parking available close to the beach. Both Morecambe and Lancaster are within striking distance for shopping trips, if needed.
