Season: autumn
Located at the end of a fine coastal walk round from Sandyhills, Rockcliffe is a sandy beach despite its name, welcoming to dogs throughout the year. Rough Island sits in the bay and can be accessed via a tidal causeway. The island is closed in May and June to protect the wildlife that breed at this time. Parking is by the beach, with a cafe nearby. Top class walks are the order of the day on this outstanding stretch of coastline.
Friends at the beach.
A mixed palette at Rockcliffe beach.
To me Rockcliffe Beach represents both calmness and well being on a warm sunny day walking over the sand to Rough Island, and excitement in Nature’s power when the wind is up and the waves are crashing on the rocks.
