Season: autumn

Blackwaterfoot beach is a long strand, located in front of a golf course like so many of the Scottish beaches.  It sits by the eponymous town, benefiting from the facilities that it offers, including good parking.  The beach is sandy, with large pebbles and situated at the foot of steep cliffs.  The beach is also well-known for the “top 100” (12 hole) golf course that runs alongside it.  You really feel away from it all here.  This is one of those beaches where you lose yourself on a walk along it, then catch yourself wondering how far you’ve walked.

Blackwaterfoot beach bounds the well-known Shiskine 12 hole golf course and looks out towards Kintyre and the coast of Northern Ireland on a clear day. Walk along the beach then via the golf course track to Drumadoon Point then on to the King’s Caves and all whilst looking out over the Kilbrannan Sound and the Kintyre Peninsula.
