Fleetwood has a proud fishing tradition and there are various sculptures and a memorial on the promenade to prove it. The north-facing seafront has recently been completely refurbished and the town is now better known as a ferry terminal for Larne. You can gaze across the enormous expanse of Morecambe Bay from here, where the sands reveal cockles at low tide. despite the lack of lifeguard cover, the water quality is excellent, so this is a popular beach for swimming and boating. An underestimated pleasure, well worth a visit.
