Season: autumn
Fleetwood has a proud fishing tradition and there are various sculptures and a memorial on the promenade to prove it. The north facing seafront has recently been completely refurbished and the town is well known as a ferry terminal for Larne. From here you can gaze across the enormous expanse of Morecambe Bay, where the sands reveal cockles at low tide. The water quality is excellent, so this is a popular beach for swimming and boating. This is an understated town, which is well worth a visit.
