Season: summer
Filey has an arcing, sandy beach and is a peaceful alternative to boisterous Scarborough, which is just up the coast. Popularised by the chocolate magnate Joseph Terry’s family in Victorian times, there has always been a genteel aura at the resort, which still resonates. The beach is perfect for a stroll and Flamborough Head lighthouse stands guard in the distance. Behind the beach and the promenade, you’ll find independent shops and smart hotels. In short, it’s a perfect place to unwind and recharge your batteries.
Peter’s pride in Yorkshire.
A gentle scene at Filey.
I am a Pisces who is never far away from water, whether swimming in it or just listening to the waves washing in and out. I married a fisherman who works off the beach. We both love being on the beach seeing how the sand moves and changes everyday.
We especially like watching Filey Brigg in the middle of winter been pounded by the wild high waves which look like White Horses. We are very lucky to live in the seaside town of Filey on the stunning Yorkshire Coast.
