Season: summer
Saunton Sands is a west facing surfing beach, located just below Croyde and almost three miles in length. It’s in a stunning location, with the Braunton Burrows reserve immediately behind the beach. There are toilets and parking to hand, excellent coastal walks and attractive villages nearby. Care is needed when swimming, due to rip tides and a lack of lifeguards. This beach has an unspoilt atmosphere. Highly recommended.
What the beach means to Stuart.
By the dunes at the beach.
At every opportunity I head to the beach! We have a motorhome called Calamity and a dog called Charliechops and have found some superb beaches We went to Braunton in north Devon in June and discovered Saunton Sands beach, which is dog friendly and a fantastic space to walk for miles, grabbing a coffee and a bite at the beach cafe at the end of it! Perfect.
Saunton Sands and Woolacombe are two of my favourite places in the world. The beach gives me a real sense of being a part of a much bigger world. I love being on the beach – whatever time of the day and whatever season of the year. The beaches in Devon offer an incredible sense of calm which allow you to unwind and lose yourself. There is nowhere I’d rather be than on the beach. Hoorah for Devon beaches, what a lucky lot we are…
