On a beach…welcome to manonabeach.com, where I’ll regularly add video of my beach visits, so you can enjoy a flavour of the beach, even when you’re not there.

Season: summer

The town beach for Amble, known as Amble Links, sits next to the town’s marina and harbour. The beach is rocky, popular with families for its rock pools and very handy for Amble itself, which has shops and a marina.  Amble Links is also popular with bird watchers and there is fine coastal walking hereabouts. Boat trips to view Coquet Island run from Amble harbour.

Season: summer

Backed by an extensive dune system, including a designated picnic area and with the historic village of Warkworth just a mile inland, this wide, sandy beach is an fine visitor location.  For wildlife watching or coast path walks, or for retail therapy in nearby Alnwick or Amble across the river, relaxation is the name of the game at Warkworth.  The remains of Warkworth Castle and the parish church of St Lawrence in Warkworth add a historical twist.

Embleton Bay

Season: summer

The sweeping view from the dunes makes Embleton Bay a spectacular visitor attraction.  Edged by Jenny Bells Carr to the north and Greymare Rock to the south, the beach is sandy and safe for swimming.  Nearby Embleton has a pub and shops.  Dunstanburgh Castle also lies just to the south of the bay and there is wonderful walking along this stretch of coastline.
