Season: summer

Located on the southern side of the Llyn peninsula, Abersoch’s beach has Blue Flag status.  As well as the excellent bathing water quality and seasonal lifeguard cover, the beach is regularly cleaned in the summer.  Abersoch is a Mecca for water sports and a popular spot for sailing. Boat trips run out to St Tudwal and Bardsea Island.  There are great views of the mountains of West Wales from here and you can surf around the corner at Hell’s Mouth or Porth Ceriad.

Season: summer

This sandy beach has Blue Flag status, including excellent bathing water quality.  With a National Nature Reserve nearby, birdwatching is a popular pastime.  Water sports abound, as on so many of the west facing Anglesey beaches, specifically windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking.  Being in the south west corner of the island, there are fine views across to the Snowdonia National Park too. Llanddwyn Beach benefits from extensive dunes and a forest behind the beach itself, confirming the natural, unspoilt atmosphere in this beautiful place.

The beach at Tynemouth, known as Longsands, is long and expansive enough for an “away from it all” walk by the sea.  Comprising more than a mile of golden sand, this Blue Flag beach is a popular surfing destination too.  The setting is wonderful, with particularly strong views to the north.  The water quality is excellent and there’s a promenade for beachside strolls.  Behind the beach are cafes and deckchairs for hire.

Mornings all the way for Michael.

A bright start to the day at Tynemouth.
