Season: summer

Sunny Cove is a delightful, sheltered oasis of calm, located just around the corner from the busier Mill Bay beach, which itself sits opposite Salcombe’s town centre.  Sunny Cove is accessed via a path through woods and faces Salcombe South Sands beach and the estuary, looking out to sea.  You can walk further round to Gara Rock for an even more expansive sea view.  This beach is a great getaway, where you can collect your thoughts, surrounded by beautiful nature.

Season: summer

Putsborough is at the quieter end of Woolacombe beach and has an altogether more tranquil ambiance.  It is unspoilt and a place of great beauty.  Thanks to the headland known as Baggy Point, the beach is sheltered from the prevailing south westerly winds, yet it attracts water sports enthusiasts, including surfers and kayakers. This is a fine beach to get away from it all, with dogs welcome to the right of the steps down to the beach.

The beach at East Runton adjoins Cromer, but it has a different feel, being sandy and expansive when the tide is on the low side.  Handy for the town’s nearby facilities and attractions, it is nonetheless a generally peaceful and relaxing place to take some time out.  Popular with surfers, East Runton also features Europe’s largest chalk reach.  The effect of this soft rock also attracts geologists and fossil-hunters, like nearby West Runton beach.  Highly recommended and a flexible visitor location.
