About manonabeach

On a beach…welcome to manonabeach.com, where I’ll regularly add video of my beach visits, so you can enjoy a flavour of the beach, even when you’re not there.

Waxham

Season: summer

Located just south of Sea Palling, Waxham Sands, as it’s also known at the southern end, falls within the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Like Horsey Gap, this is a great location for seal spotting, particularly in the winter, but the sandy beach itself is a joy to walk on.  The beach is isolated and little known, with no facilities.  If you’re after peace and tranquility in an exquisite natural setting, this is the place for you, also welcoming dogs all year round.  Highly recommended, a Norfolk gem.

Season: summer

Horsey Gap is an unspoilt environment, looked after by the National Trust.  Here is a place to roam free.  For access to the beach, use the Horsey Gap car park and for seal spotting, best between November and February, use either the Horsey Windpump car park by the mere or the Nelson Head pub, which involves a longer walk.  The backdrop of Horsey Dunes features Horsey Warren, the largest dune system in East Anglia, where wildflowers and wildlife abound.  Whether you’re enjoying a bracing walk or a run out with the dogs, you’ll return refreshed from a trip to Horsey Gap.

Season: summer

Located between Happisburgh and Sea Palling, Cart Gap is a long, sandy beach with groynes that point you to the sea.  The narrow lane that leads here sets a scene of rural escape and somewhere to recharge your batteries.  This is a popular spot for walkers and their dogs, who are welcome all year round.  After a bracing walk in either direction as far as you’d like, there’s a cafe for some welcome refreshment.  This is an unspoilt natural environment that many local people build into their daily routine.
