Season: autumn
Dunoon sits on the western side of the Firth of Clyde, with the Holy Loch to the north and Innellan to the south. West Bay beach is located to the south of the harbour and town, although there are still some houses as a backdrop. It’s a shingle beach, from which there is safe swimming in clean bathing water. There are many scenic walks to enjoy on the Cowal Peninsula and you feel well away from the action here. For the sightseer there’s an historic castle, town and pier.
