Season: autumn

Magilligan Strand stretches a full seven miles from Castlerock in the east to Magilligan Point in the west, taking in Benone beach and Downhill Strand along the way.  This is a glorious sandy shoreline, backed by a large dune system that is home to varied wildlife and birds.  Access is via boardwalks through the dunes.  Magilligan Strand is a Blue Flag beach, fine for swimming in the clean water.  There is seasonal lifeguard cover and the beach is regularly cleaned.
