Season: autumn
This attractive, arcing, sandy National Trust beach sits at the foot of Glendun, where the River Dun meets the sea. At the southern end of the beach there is a small car park near the harbour. The village is a historical throwback and appears somewhat stylised nowadays, as in Cornwall. Visitors come here today to see the Red Caves in Cushendun, used as a location for Game of Thrones. Altogether this village and beach have a faraway, escapist feel, a real tonic in busy times.
Denis takes us back.
