Separated from The Strand Portstewart by the arrival at the sea of the River Bann, Castlerock beach features basalt cliffs at its western end, running east in front of dunes and the Castlerock Golf Course via a promenade to the river. The strand is sandy and the dunes are part of the Bivenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
