Separated from The Strand Portstewart by the arrival at the sea of the River Bann, Castlerock beach features basalt cliffs at its western end. It runs east in front of dunes and the Castlerock Golf Course via a promenade to the river. The surface is sandy and the dunes are part of the Bivenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The adjacent town of Castlerock is friendly and welcoming, with plenty of facilities for any discerning visitor.
