Tankerton is a rural beach, with a grassy backdrop and nearby nature, including Oare Marshes Reserve, where you can see curlew, avocet, Lapwing and Marsh Harriers, among others. The beach is sandy, divided by groynes. This is a popular swimming and sailing beach, with clean bathing water and a sailing club next to the beach. There is parking right by the beach and the town has all the facilities that you’ll need, including fish ‘n chips and a cafe. To complete the picture, there are wooden beach huts, a swimming pool and you can visit nearby Whitstable Castle and gardens.
