Season: autumn
Sitting between Dover and Deal, Kingsdown beach is a quiet spot, backed by a pub and a coastal cycle track. This is a place for reflection and tranquility. As well as seals to enjoy out at sea, a low tide exposes interesting rock pools to explore. There are chalk cliffs to one side, with scrubland behind. Being a shingle beach, it falls away steeply, so swimming is best avoided, since strong currents operate here. In short, this is a fine getaway, if you’d like time to think things through and if you have an appetite for all things natural.
What the beach means to Jenny.
An idyllic autumn setting.
