On a beach…welcome to manonabeach.com, where I’ll regularly add video of my beach visits, so you can enjoy a flavour of the beach, even when you’re not there.

Season: summer

Bull Bay is located in front of Wales’ most northerly golf course and has views across to the island of East Mouse in the bay. There are rocky inlets and rock pools for children and families to explore, with plenty of facilities in nearby Amlwch.  The beach itself is shingle and there’s a slipway, used by the local rowing club.  Fishing is also popular here, as well as diving and general boating.

Season: summer

Red Wharf Bay (Traeth Coch) is an Eldorado for enthusiasts of the natural world, particularly for birdwatchers, who can see shelduck, grey plover and red sandpipers, among others.  There is a salt marsh and sand dunes.  The beach here is known as St David’s and sits on the western edge of the bay.  As well as fossil hunting at low tide, you can enjoy the view to Castel Mawr, which sits on a limestone outcrop to the north of the bay.  This is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the Bwrdd Arthur Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Llandudno West Shore

Season: summer

West Shore is the quieter of the two Llandudno beaches, sitting in the lea of The Great Orme. With all the usual facilities available in the adjacent town, there is also excellent access from here to the Great Orme National Park, with its fine walks and scenery.  Windsurfing and kitesurfing are popular pastimes on the expansive beach, which also attracts those who like to get away from the hustle of the town’s busier North Shore beach, sitting across the peninsula.

You’re never alone at the beach.
