On a beach…welcome to manonabeach.com, where I’ll regularly add video of my beach visits, so you can enjoy a flavour of the beach, even when you’re not there.

Aberdaron Beach

Season: summer

This Blue Flag beach has clean bathing water and is sandy, with a promenade behind the beach. Boating and water sports are popular here, including kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and sea canoeing.  The long, sheltered bay has caves and rock pools to explore, but do take care over tidal changes.  All facilities are at hand, including toilets, parking, first aid and shops.

Season: summer

Located on the north coast of the Llyn peninsula, Porth Oer beach is popular with surfers and body boarders, due to the deep swells that arrive here.  Nearby Mynydd Carreg makes a fine lookout point for nature lovers.  The views from the beach are outstanding and there are footpaths through the dunes to explore, enjoying the wildlife as you go.  The beach is also known as Whistling Sands due to the sound made by the beach when you walk along it.  With a seasonal cafe and a picnic site, plus nearby National Trust parking, this is a great place to explore.

Trefor Beach

Season: summer

Trefor Beach on the Llyn Peninsula is made up of sand and pebbles.  A slipway makes this sheltered spot popular for boating and there is a pier that borders a small harbour.  A car park is next to the beach and the nearest town is Pwllheli, sitting on the south side of the peninsula. Backed by steep hills, there’s a gentle, timeless feel here, well away from the rat race.
