Season: autumn
Essentially the western end of the long strand that runs to the east of Portrush, this sandy beach abuts the town and Ramore Head, backing onto the famous Championship Royal Portrush Golf Course. A long promenade behind the beach makes for an enjoyable stroll and Portrush is equipped to cater for most visitors’ interests. As well as views out to The Skerries and porpoises in the bay, horse riding on the beach and surfing are both popular here. There is a large car park and access is good, either by steps or via a ramp.
Ian starts the day at East Strand, Portrush in County Antrim.
Sunshine all the way at East Strand.
