Season: summer
This sand, shingle and pebble beach is set in an exquisite rural environment, the Thorness Bay Site of Special Scientific Interest. With woodland behind the beach, the area is a place to get away from it all, with fine views out to sea. As a result, the beach is popular with anglers and there are striking sunsets to enjoy too. For fossil hunters, Thorness Bay includes parts of the Hamstead Beds and the Insect Beds of the Bembridge Marls.
What the beach means to Jon and Laura.
An idyllic setting at Thorness Bay.
