Season: autumn
Like neighbouring Annan, Powfoot beach is better known for its natural beauty than for sand, with saltmarsh and shingle predominating. The adjacent town of Powfoot is attractive and welcoming. The west end of the beach is the best bet at low tide, in front of Powfoot Scar, where there is parking. There’s also a slipway here for dinghies and a golf course behind the beach. I recommend this beach and coastline for a good walk, which gives you the opportunity to particularly enjoy the indigenous and visiting birdlife.
What the beach means to Alex.
Autumn at Powfoot beach.
The beach means being close to nature, blowing away the cobwebs and clearing the mind!
