Season: autumn
St Annes beach at Lytham St Annes lies just beyond Lytham itself on the way to Blackpool. The town is genteel and there’s a Victorian pier with a promenade running in both directions from it. Low tide reveals plenty of sand, due to the strong tidal run here, being not far from the entrance to the River Ribble estuary. For entertainment, you can hire pedallos and paddle boats. The water quality is fine and the beach is cleaned regularly.
A variety of stimuli for Stuart.
A view from the promenade.
