Season: autumn

Meols comprises the central section of a long strand of beach that stretches between Red Rocks at Hoylake and New Brighton beach.  Although there is a small shingle upper beach, this becomes acres of sand as the tide falls away.  As a result, the popularity of horse riding and sand yachting reflects this geographical change.  Oystercatchers, Redshank and waders can also be seen at low tide.  This beach is recommended by the Marine Conservation Society.
