Season: autumn

Bright sunshine greeted me for this visit to Torre Abbey Sands, the walk to the beach via Abbey Park always a pleasure.  A silver sea lit the view over to Brixham and Paignton as visitors promenaded by the beach.  This is an affluent area of Torquay, with fine restaurants and hotels at hand.  A wall divides the beach from the road and the traffic, creating a peaceful haven, without having to leave the convenience of the town.  Highly recommended.

Torre Abbey Sands are a long strand in Torquay on the English Riviera.  The beach lies just west of the harbour and marina, with excellent access and a park called Abbey Park nearby. The bathing water is European designated and there are shops, restaurants and a promenade behind the beach.  You’ll also find colourful beach huts and a rocky cove at the end of the beach.  A fine town beach.
